4th July Fireworks in Portland OR

4th July Fireworks over the Willamette River near Downtown Portland (OK… technically two don’t actually have fireworks but I liked them anyway).

These Night Photos taken with my Canon 5D (original – “old faithful”) with a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L lens and my newer Canon 60D using a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens and Manfrotto tripod.

The 5D is a full frame sensor so I used it to get the widest views with the 16-35mm and used the 24-70mm on the Canon 60D for closer fireworks shots. I used the Self Timer Method rather than a remote as explained in my “Night Photos” Video of my EasyDSLR course.

You can view my “Night Photos” video for free at udemy.com in my EasyDSLR Digital Photography Course: Advanced.

p.s. you need to sign up to see the free video but it’s no obligation at all – the content will definitely be worth filling in your email address.

Cloud Lapse – Time Lapse in Montana

Seeing how Clouds change form through the magic of Time Lapse gives a scene a whole new dimension. I took these sequences the other day in Missoula Montana using my Canon 5D, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L and tripod and remote timer.

I have an entire Video dedicated to creating Time lapse videos in the Gold Version of my EasyDSLR Digital Photography Course at http://easydslr.com. The main extras you need are a Tripod and remote timer so these amazing videos are totally affordable to produce.

For those of you that were interested in my EasyDSLR Course but are too advanced for the Basic Videos and want to jump straight into more creative topics like Time lapse – I have an option…

I have just launched my EasyDSLR Advanced Course on udemy. This has just the Gold Member Videos and is perfect for you if you already have a good handle on the basics. Head over to udemy and have a look at the Advanced Course.

Udemy is a new platform for anyone to take or build courses online – as they put it “to disrupt and democratize education by enabling anyone to learn from the world’s experts”. Udemy seems to be getting excellent traction and have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, TechCrunch and Mashable.  I think it’s great that they have created a channel for people to easily connect with expertise worldwide.

Past Mt Hood

A few of my favorite photos from a recent trip past Mt Hood Oregon. They were taken with a Canon 60D and 2 lenses, a 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8.

I processed some of the shots with The Florabella Collection Actions for Photoshop (CS2 – CS5) or Photoshop Elements (6-10). I only used actions from the LUXE set.

  • My lovely wife, Regan, processed with Gypsy
  • Two flower shots with Heiress
  • Flying seagull with Ambrosia
  • Waterfall with Glam

It’s great fun experimenting with different looks and sometimes a real challenge deciding which one to stick with.
